title pic Cat Pregnancy Signs & Care

Cat Pregnancy

You may not be able to tell if your cat is pregnant, especially if you have never had a pregnant cat before.  A few signs to look for are an increased appetite, stomach getting bigger, more affectionate and maybe some vomiting. Those are just a few things to look for but not all cats will have the same symptoms. If you are unsure, you could always get an ultrasound at the vet.

It’s very important that you know or learn about cat care for your pregnant cat during their pregnancy which lasts up to nine weeks.  You should consult your vet about their diet.  You need to make sure they are getting the proper amount of nutrients and vitamins in order for her to have a healthy litter.  When it gets closer to the end of the pregnancy period, you should keep your cat inside.  This will keep her from having her kittens somewhere you may not be able to find them.

Make sure she has a comfortable space in the home that’s quiet and safe.  Set up a bed for her and put her food and water in there as well so she becomes comfortable sleeping and eating in that space.  This will be the place that she will (hopefully) have her babies.

You may need to assist your cat with the birthing process (if the kittens are being born rear end first) so speaking with your vet in advance or doing some of your own research will be extremely helpful in this case.
